WhatsApp, a free, popular messaging and video calling app owned by Meta Platforms through which users can send messages, voice messages, images, videos, and other files to contacts for free via the internet, instead of cellular networks, has added a new feature of translation, which enables users to translate to their preferred language within the popular network itself.

To translate a message, the user has to merely long press on the text and hit the option “Translation.” Then, the user can choose both the target language and source, the ability to download the language for future use.

Additionally, WhatsApp went on to announce that all translations will be stored locally on the user’s device, in line with the app’s end-to-end encryption that means even the mother company, Meta, cannot view message content.
But for the iPhone users, there are more than 19 languages supported, including Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Italian.
In six languages, however, Android users were able to get translation, but the users themselves could not get access to another convenience feature: automatic translation for the entire chat thread.

More significantly to mention is that all subsequent chats in a conversation will automatically translate without needing manual switch-on for each message once it is turned on.
Recently this month, in a fresh bid of progress, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to directly add their Facebook profile links on their WhatsApp profiles.

The feature is being developed and was seen in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.26.12 available on the Google Play Store.
With the update, users will be able to connect their Facebook accounts. After connecting, a small Facebook logo will be shown next to the profile link on their WhatsApp profile. This will provide contacts easy access to a user’s Facebook account as well as enhance credibility.
