The attack was among the bloodiest Ukrainian retaliatory attacks on Russia. Ukraine reported that three individuals died during overnight assaults throughout the country.

Russia stated that it had downed or intercepted 149 Ukrainian drones overnight, 15 of them over the Samara region, about 800 kilometres (497 miles) from the front line in Ukraine.

Moscow reports nearly daily that it has destroyed Ukrainian drones. Kyiv confirms that it conducts the attacks, usually on energy facilities, as a response to Russian bombardments of its cities.
