Ihsaan Afzal Khan, the Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Commerce, was at an important networking session between the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), symbolizing increasing economic cooperation between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

While meeting the DCCI President, Taskeen Ahmed and Board members, Mr. Khan mentioned a visible boost in trade and commercial exchange between the two nations.

He referred to new opportunities in industries like pharmaceuticals, automobiles, and minerals as spheres of growing interest from both countries’ business circles.

Mr. Khan reiterated his resolve towards developing a holistic and favorable environment for both nations’ businesses, after the recent Pakistan Minister of Commerce visit.

He emphasized that increasing cooperation between private sectors would open new horizons for bilateral trade and investment.

The networking session was termed by participants as a major step towards consolidating business-to-business ties and enhancing economic cooperation between the two nations, which could open up new avenues of trade and investment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed content over the positive direction of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, pointing out key areas like people-to-people contacts, educational exchanges, and trade and economic cooperation.

During a meeting with Bangladesh’s Adviser on Religious Affairs, Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain, who met him in Islamabad, the prime minister highlighted the need for regular high-level interactions to keep the momentum of bilateral relations going.

Dr. A. F. M. Khalid Hossain was joined by High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Pakistan Md Iqbal Hussain Khan.

The prime minister received Dr. Hossain and his delegation warmly and observed that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh were founded deeply in a common past, cultural linkages, and kinship ties.

Referring to their earlier meetings in New York and Cairo, Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the visionary guidance of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and appreciated his contribution towards poverty reduction and his efforts at cementing Pakistan-Bangladesh relations.

Dr. Hossain thanked the prime minister for hosting him and said that brotherly ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh were rooted in historical relations and shared religion.

He also presented a letter of the Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus to the prime minister, expressing condolences on the loss of lives and property due to the floods in Pakistan and providing relief support.
