Acting couple announces it in coordinated Instagram post.
Finally, the wait is over after all those years of anticipation: Neelofar, featuring Pakistan’s favorite on-screen couple Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan, is coming to the theatres officially this winter.
The news was released via a coordinated Instagram post by the team of the film, captioned: “Agli mulaqat ka intezar rahay ga… Neelofar — This winter.”
The post was accompanied by a brief video, in which a man and a woman with their foreheads touching sillhotted against a red background.
The movie had initially been scheduled for release in December 2022 but was reportedly pushed back because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The project has since been the center of endless speculation, with fans waiting with bated breath for an update.
Mahira, in a tearful wrap-up post when the shooting ended in 2020, had written: “I’m taking a part of you with me, leaving part of my soul with you… My sweetheart Neelofar, I will miss you, so much… Each and every one of them gave their heart and soul to it. Can’t wait for all of you to see our hard work and love on your screens soon.”
Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan’s ‘Neelofar’ finally on release this winter
Directed and produced by Ammar Rasool, Neelofar features Fawad playing the role of Mansoor Ali Khan and Mahira Khan playing the leading lady.
The star-studded cast also includes Madiha Imam, Samiya Mumtaz, Behroze Sabzwari, Atiqa Odho, and Gohar Rasheed. It is produced by Usaf Shariq and executive produced by Fawad and Hassaan Khalid.
This will be the third big on-screen collaboration between Fawad and Mahira, following their legendary pairing in Humsafar and their box office reunion in The Legend of Maula Jatt. Fans have been eagerly waiting to once again see the two share screen space — and this winter, that dream will come true.
While an exact release date has still not been announced, the news has generated buzz on social media, with the fans already counting down to release day.
