Emma Watson recently made the surprise announcement that she likes dating those who haven’t seen her films.

The 35-year-old star, who is best known for playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise, revealed fame had a cost in her private life.

In her recent appearance on Jay Shetty’s On Purpose podcast, Emma described: “It does feel like my avatar walks into the room quite suddenly, suddenly. And then I’m playing a whole different conversation if someone haven’t worked out that it’s me yet.”

“That can be quite dehumanising and sometimes quite. observing someone’s behavior totally switch and turn and flip can be quite a jarring experience,” she continued.

The Bling Ring star then joked the world of dating “is essentially a complete disaster and free-for-all,” going on, “I feel like I’m in good company, in that sense.”

“It’s amusing, sometimes people will apologise to me for the fact they’ve not seen my films. And I will be like, ‘Don’t apologise. That is bliss to me,'” Emma told Jay.

She added, “Like, music to my ears that you won’t constantly be negotiating it. And me too negotiating with you this projection of me, or this Emma Watson avatar-person will not be this ghost in the room.”

The actress had earlier admitted that the film industry made her feel “a bit caged” and that she was not very happy even with all the fame and success she had achieved.

The Little Women actress explained to the Financial Times: “I wasn’t very happy, to be honest. I think I felt a bit caged.”

She went on to say, “The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over.

To be able to stand in front of a film and have all the journalists be able to say, ‘How does this fit with your perspective?’ It was very hard to have to be the face and the voice for things where I wasn’t involved in the process,” Emma Watson wrapped up at the time.
