
ISLAMABAD: At the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the flood-hit regions all over Pakistan are going to experience massive relief in their electricity bills, ARY News reported.
In a high-level meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it was decided to assist the fiscal issues suffered by citizens hit by recent floods.
As per the directive, the collection of electricity bills for the month of August in flood-hit areas of Pakistan has been suspended.
Federal Minister of Energy Awais Leghari confirmed that all August 2025 bills have been exempted for people residing in flood-hit areas, as per the relief of electricity bills. He also appreciated the Prime Minister for taking this step for the deserving people.

Bills will be revised in the next billing cycle for persons already settled. Authorities have directed the division to make sure the speedy execution of this order.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that a comprehensive support package will be unveiled after the conclusion of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The government has asked the IMF to grant approval for a three-month deferral of electricity bills to flood-affected regions.

Floods have stunned millions in Pakistan. We are committed to bringing relief to their misery and will not leave any stone unturned until each affected family returns to their home,” PM Shehbaz Sharif stated in the meeting.

Minister Leghari further stated that federal and provincial departments are round the clock engaged in rescue and rehabilitation operations.
He also added that a maximum of 70 percent of the relief to electricity bills is already being dispensed to 18 million consumers across the country.
This action follows devastating damage caused by monsoon floods, flooding large tracts of areas, displacing thousands, and damaging major infrastructure.

The relief package is part of the government’s effort to aid vulnerable populations in such a crisis.
