DOHA, Qatar: Qatar announced it would meet with Hamas negotiators and Turkey on Tuesday to discuss US President Donald Trump’s Gaza proposal, with a foreign ministry spokesman stating that Hamas would examine it “responsibly.”.

The remarks were made only hours after US President Donald Trump announced a plan in Washington demanding a ceasefire, release of hostages by Hamas within 72 hours, disarming of the group and a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, followed by a post-war transitional authority led by Trump himself.
Qatar and Egypt delivered the proposal to Hamas on Monday, and “the negotiating delegation vowed to study it in a serious manner,” foreign ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari said at a press conference.
He also said: “There will be a second meeting today, with the presence of the Turkish side, with the negotiating delegation too.”

The current discussions come on the heels of a previous meeting on Monday between Hamas officials and Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Doha.
It is still premature to talk of responses, but we are really hopeful that this plan, as we stated, is an all-encompassing one,” Ansari continued.
After the Monday announcement, Qatari officials announced they were prepared to push for a ceasefire in the Palestinian state after an Israeli apology for its historic attack against Hamas leaders in Doha last month.
Qatar’s foreign affairs spokesman further stated Tuesday that the US has provided security guarantees to the country and Israel has assured not to strike it again.
“The security guarantees and the promises that were made in the phone call yesterday (Monday) by President Trump and the Israeli prime minister (Benjamin Netanyahu) were very clear and were subject to the guarantee of the US president that Qatar will never be attacked,” Ansari said.

We are satisfied with the security guarantees that we have received,” he declared, and said there had also been “an undertaking by Israel not to attack Qatar again in its capacity or otherwise.”
Qatar, Egypt, and the United States had spearheaded efforts to negotiate a full-scale ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and multiple rounds of diplomacy were held in Doha.
