Pakistanis reported being prevented from getting off ship by Houthis.

An Iranian ship carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Iran’s port of Bandar Abbas to Yemen was attacked, diplomatic sources confirmed on Friday.

The captain and all 24 crew members of the ship are Pakistani nationals, the sources said. No Pakistani crew casualties have been reported in the incident.

Diplomatic sources added that the ship is not in the area under the Yemeni government’s control. Pakistan is doing everything possible to facilitate the return of its nationals on board safely, they added.

The crew, in a video message, stated the vessel was attacked by a drone at a Yemeni port 10 days earlier. The ship, which was carrying LNG to be unloaded at the port, has not moved since.

The captain of the ship has asked to sail to Djibouti on a priority basis. The crew added that they were expecting help from Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Director General of Ports.
