Earlier this week, the White House announced Trump will certify that a sale of TikTok’s US business from Chinese parent ByteDance will satisfy conditions in a Congress-approved law prohibiting the short video app if its Chinese parent is terminated.

Donald Trump credited TikTok, with 170 million US users, with his re-election victory last year and has 15 million followers on his own account.

Donald Trump has postponed applying the law until mid-December while negotiating to get TikTok’s US assets out of the international platform, arrange American investors and make sure that the new owner counts as a full divestiture required under the 2024 law.
