Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the second phase of the Green Tractor Scheme, a relief and excitement wave for thousands of farmers from the province.
During a draw on Sunday, 9,500 tractors were allocated, with some of the lucky winners being personally contacted by Maryam Nawaz to offer their congratulations.
At the ceremony, the Secretary of Agriculture informed the Chief Minister about the programme details. Farmers owning seven acres or more under the Green Tractor Scheme are to be given tractors from 75 to 125 horsepower.
High-power tractors are subsidized by the government by Rs1 million, whereas medium-power tractors (50–65 hp) are subsidized by Rs500,000. Under the scheme, a total of 20,000 tractors will be given to the farmers in Punjab.
The reaction to the program has been huge. Of 734,000 requests, 282,000 farmers were discovered to be eligible for the draw.

Notably, nearly 98 percent of the applicants chose locally produced tractors, demonstrating utmost confidence in national production and a lift for national industry.
Making the occasion personal as well, Maryam Nawaz called some of the successful applicants.
Through the Green Tractor Scheme, the government of Punjab seeks not just to grant subsidies but to help ensure that advanced machinery finds its way to hardworking farmers.
Maryam Nawaz also highlighted that the scheme is a testament to her government’s determination to directly assist the agriculture community, ensuring that Punjab’s farming gets a brighter future.

Previously, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif launched the ‘CM Punjab Wheat Incentive Program’ formally, which entails a scheme of 1,000 free tractors to wheat farmers.
55-horsepower tractors are to be provided free of charge to 1,000 successful farmers selected through a digital balloting process under the Punjab free tractors scheme. Kausar Parveen, a female farmer from Bahawalnagar, was awarded the first tractor.
Successful farmers were personally congratulated by CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, including Muhammad Iqbal from Jhang and Salman Ahmed from Mandi Bahauddin.
